Wat Kalayanamit
Wat Kalayanimit Woramahavihara seems to be hard to find for Bangkok’s taxi drivers. Our’s didn't find it at all in 2000. In the meantime of course we have our own taxi driver who knows all the temple's locations we have been to. Wat Kalayanimit is actually so easy to spot. The main chapel rises high above the roofs of the neighboring houses in Thonburi and hosts the huge Luang Pho To (Phra Buddha Triratana Nayok) Buddha image inside. There is other interesting buildings on the grounds as well as the biggest bronze bell in Thailand and a very old stone pagoda from china. We actually went back in 2007 and 2008 after renovations for H.M. the King's 80th Birthday when most of the buddha images and temples of Bangkok were renovated and appeared in perfect beauty. A friendly reader of chimburi.com from Singapore just triggered a reminder, so we have updated our picture below with a very recent one :-)
