Wat Phra That Chom Kitti

Wat Phra That Chom Kitti

Wat Phra That Chom Kitti is a temple on the outskirts of Chiang Saen. A bit of a walk if you chose to walk, but we met some Germans here who seemed to have enjoyed the walk, which, according to them, allowed them to "look into the cooking pots of the local people". The walk up the hill includes 339 steps though. This temple was built in 1487 to shrine some of Buddha's relics. Those relics where actually split into three lots, and the others are contained in Wat Phra That Doi Chom Thong and at Wat Phra That Doi Tung.  This is an important temple for Buddhists and from up here one has a great view into the valley and into Laos.
