Wat Phra Baht Nam Phu
Wat Phra Baht Nam Phu is a very special temple outside of Lopburi town, nestled in the green hills. In 1992 Dr. Alongkot Dikkapanya a Buddhist monk turned this temple into an AIDS hospice to take care of full-blown AIDS patients. It is treating 500 patients and people with HIV/AIDS today with a growing waiting list of 10.000 people. The temple wants to create awareness about AIDS in Thailand, provide a home and hospice to AIDS patients and it has founded the Thammarak Niwet Project which plans to built houses for 10.000 HIV infected people and AIDS patients. This is a gated and secured temple, which means, if you have no business to be here, you won't get in. But it is a good place to give your support to. In order to protect people's feelings and privacy we have only taken pictures from far and not within the temple where we made our donations.
