Wat Hong
We are dedicating our 501st temple covered on our pages to the wonderful people of Thailand who managed to deal with the military coup on September 19th, 2006 without bloodshed or violence! Wat Hong or Wat Srisa Rad is located in Buriram's Phutthaisong district. It features Phra Chao Yai, a 15th century Lao-style Buddha image. Other sources say it is a 19th to 20th century image, created during the late Ayutthaya period. The statue is completely covered with gold leaves and many worshippers are visiting the temple every day. It is an important Buddha image for Buriram and neighbouring provinces.
