Wat Tha Thanon

Luang Phor Phet

We had been in Uttaradit several times and kept searching for Wat Tha Thanon but didn't find it. Finally in 2006 we reserved lots of time and focused on the temples of Uttaradit. Luang Phor Phet, the beautiful Chiang Saen-style Buddha image was our main reason to return to Uttaradit. The 800-900 year old image is installed in the Phra Viharn, a beautiful building to the side of the much larger Ubosot. This is a very important image in the province and many stories around it exist. The Ubosot is also a very attractive building and we were lucky during our visit to find it open.
