Wat Chai Mongkon
Wat Chai Mongkon is a small temple in the city of Phrae on the way to Wat Phra That Cho Hae. It is embedded in the local shops and houses and functions very much like a village temple for the local people. We visited the temple on our second extensive trip to Phrae in 2007 and at the time of our visit a large Thai family gathered in the temple for a ceremony. While it is never a problem to join them, we always recline to take pictures inside the building in such cases. Behind the large temple structure is an interesting old wooden library which is skilfully carved and painted.
