Wat Bupharam
Wat Bupharam is an interesting temple on the west side of the Nan river. The larger and newer Ubosot was still somewhat under construction when we visited in December of 2007. The Luk Nimit (the round stones, which are put into the ground as part of a ceremony to bless the temple) were still hanging above the hole in the ground and covered with gold leaves. However, the real interesting building is the smaller Ubosot, which contains an ancient Buddha image, which has sadly been protected by heavy iron bars. It is really sad that even Buddha statues are not save anymore and have to be be placed behind bars. The images in the old Ubosot face east, while the images in the new Ubosot face west again.
