Wat Phra Boromathat Chaiya

Wat Phra Boromathat Chaiya

Wat Phra Boromathat Chaiya Ratchaworawihan was clearly one of the highlights of visiting the South. Constructed as part of the Mahayana Buddhist efforts of the 7th Century A.D. the picturesque white Chedi is the best preserved piece of artwork in Si Wichai-style in Thailand. Many Chaiya-style Buddha images are enshrined here. The Chaiya National Museum across the street exhibits many fine examples of Si Wichai art as well as other periods. Visiting Wat Phra Boromathat Chaiya alone is worth the long trip to the South.
