Temples of Thailand - a photographic journey
Bangkok Area Provinces: Central North North-East West South East
Wat Suan Phlu
Wat Suan Phlu lies in the shaddow of hotel and apartment high-rise buildings in a very historical district of Bangkok and just a few feet off the historic Charoen Krung Road. It is also a temple which is very much in use by the local people here and school classes are held here daily. While the Ubosot was locked there is a reclining Buddha image in the Viharn Phra Buddha Sayat and a standing Buddha image at the eastern doors of the Ubosot. Interesting to see are also the old wooden temple buildings decorated with beautiful wood carvings as well as a Chinese shrine which sits on stilts in a fish pond.
Wat Suan Phlu was our first temple on a walking tour through the old districts of Bangkok, starting from Thaksin bridge going north.
